It seems to happens every decade. A new Star Wars film comes out and the world goes bonkers. Whether you are a Star Wars fan or not, there is no denying the intensity of the fans and the relentless marketing.
Plus we love it, so we have rounded up some of the Star Wars and wine accessories that no Star Wars vinophile should live without. (PS – We are including links so you can order the items for Christmas as well (we’re nice like that).
The Underground Toys R2-D2 Bottle Stopper
We understand that there are some people in the world who do not finish a bottle of wine in a single sitting. We don’t know any of those people but apparently they exist. For those people, there is an R2-D2 bottle stopper that will help to keep your wine fresh for the morning. It features the top of everyone’s favourite droid and a very nice bottle stopper underneath.
Darth Vader Corkscrew
Use the force to open a bottle of wine with the Dark Lord. Who’s your father now, wine bottle? Okay, well, that might be silly, but it is cool. You screw Darth into the cork and pull. What will be more fun at a party than handing what looks like a Darth Vader doll to a friend when they ask for a corkscrew?
Viandiante del Cielo Pinot Noir
You know it had to happen. Viandiante del Cielo, for those of you whose Italian is a bit rusty, means “Skywalker”. Named for lead character in the original Star Wars films, this Pinot Noir actually gets solid reviews. Produced in Marin County, California, USA, this is great light red wine is drinkable and enjoyable.
Originally produced by filmmaker and winery owner Francis Ford Coppola and Star Wars creator George Lucas, it is now produced at Skywalker Vineyards by Scott McLeod, Coppola Companies’ former senior winemaker. Finding it in the UK might be a bit of a challenge, but it can be done.
Star Wars Wine Glasses
Less chintzy than most Star Wars glasses out there – These feature a nice minimal design with Star Wars masks. These guys aren’t just limited to wine glasses, they also offer a choice of Pilsner, Beer Mug, Water, Champagne and Shot glasses as well as tumblers with your choice of the Rebel Alliance or the Imperial logo.
There is a great deal more out there, many items of which are limited edition and collectible. Enjoy the movie and then head home to drink a bottle of wine from a Star Wars glass. You and your Star Wars geek friends can wax poetic on the cinematic merits of this latest instalment of this legendary film series.
