Katie Jones produces this light, lovely, fragrant wine in small quantities, but at a reasonable price. Her Le Petit Train Sauvignon Blanc is relatively new addition to her stable of wines.
The vines themselves date back centuries in some cases and produce a mature grape that provides a great depth of flavour.
Domaine Jones is the culmination of dream for the vintner, Katie Jones. She bought only a few hectares of vines in Languedoc. It hasn’t been smooth sailing. In 2013, vandals destroyed her white vintage. On the website, Naked Wines, they put up an article. Within 48 hours, 2500 of their customers had pre-ordered 30000 bottles to fill breach and provide Domaine Jones with much needed capital.
In 2015, Jones introduced her Sauvignon Blanc that represents the culmination of those angels’ funding. They also purchased a train shed to use as a winery.
Jones describes her wine in a YouTube video as a “lovely summer wine”. She recommends that it be chilled and served on a sunny summer day. With hints of grapefruit and peach, it is a very crisp and clean tasting wine.
The acid balance is nearly perfect and the slight mineral finish cleanses the palate.
