The Big Easy is one of the most iconic cities in the world. With its music, culture, and history, the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, is unlike any place in the United States or the world. There are hundreds of hotels, hostels, and guest houses in and around the city. To make it a little easy, here is our list of some of the best places to stay in New Orleans.

The most famous part of New Orleans is the French Quarter. The epicenter of Mardi Gras, as well as much of the food and music scene, the French Quarter is the place to be all year long. Many of our favourite locations are right in and near this part of town.

Hotels

Four Points by Sheraton – French Quarter – Typically, a list of the best wouldn’t lean toward a chain hotels, but the Four Points by Sheraton is a lot different. Located right on Bourbon Street, this hotel has balconies that overlook the street and it’s only steps away from all of the city’s night life. The rooms reflect the culture and service is everything you should expect from one of the jewels of the Sheraton chain.

The Hotel Mazarin – With a gorgeous wine bar and period décor, the Hotel Mazarin is a quiet oasis in the midst of the throbbing heart of the Big Easy. There is outdoor seating to sit, relax and drink. This upscale boutique hotel is all about New Orleans’s quiet and sophisticated side.

The Hotel Moteleone – Opened in 1886, this hotel has a legendary bar, the Carousel Bar, which actually revolves. Literary legends like Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, and William Faulkner have graced the hallways. If you want to sleep in a landmark, this is the hotel to go to.

Guest Houses

The Bon Maison Guest House – There is a side of New Orleans that reaches back nearly 200 years to the days before the American Civil War. The Bon Maison is a townhouse and slave quarters that was built in 1833. With all of the modern amenities that a traveller could want, the Bon Maison has retained its history and heritage. This is a stay for the discriminating traveller.

The New Orleans Guest House – With banana trees and lizards, the courtyard is only part of the allure to this historic location. The furnishings are stunning and the service is the same. There is even free parking for those taking a car into the city. The online reviews rave about the “character” of the New Orleans Guest House for a reason.

Hostels

Atlas House – This is a relaxed and fun hostel with an open and inviting atmosphere. The workers and the guests intermingle making Atlas House a playful stay. Just 10 minutes by bus to the Bourbon Street, this is a great place off the beaten track.
